Its winter, you’re wearing gloves, your iPhone rings, and the call is gone before you can touch the screen with a bare finger . . . has this happened to you? Do you have a glove with the finger cut off (or seam slit, like I do)? There is a better way with customized gloves.
At Macworld 2011 this year, I was introduced to the Freehands Unisex iPad Power Stretch, which became the answer to my prior frustrations. This very comfortable hand protector was just introduced in 2010 using a Polartec-branded material which is lightweight, breathable, stretchable and warm. It has a silicone screen palm, and most importantly, a conductive polyamide tip with silver plating on the end of all the thumb and forefinger (also available for all four fingers). It works as well (actually, sometimes better) on my iPad2 and iPhone4 as the bare finger! This is exactly how such a glove should work.
For only $24 in small/medium, medium/large or large/X-large, you can get a pair of these great gloves from http://www.freehands.com. This is only one of over 16 different styles of conductive or fold-back finger tips in a variety of materials including cashmere, microfur, Ragg-Wool, recycled fleece, ski, soft shell and wool knit. Most are basic black, but some include red, blue, purple, grey, pink and multi-stripe. Prices range from $16 to $80.
Whether you are using a touchscreen, iPod, camera or other device that needs a bare-fingered touch, I highly recommend the Freehands range of products. Its not too soon to start planning for the next season when you need hand protection.
