It’s official. We are having an Indian Summer – and what a wonderful event it is. Beautiful sunny days, warm temperatures (hot, if you’re trying to work in the yard!) and dry conditions. What a great Halloween this year. The first frost was really a doozy at my house. I now have slime-like tendrils of Wandering Jew hanging everywhere. Lesson learned: Do Not let Wandering Jew freeze.
I am truly looking forward to Tuesday evening’s gathering. First, because we are having two presentations by appleJAC members. Sue McCormick will share with us the Filemaker data base that she developed. Then, Larry Garvin will initiate us in the wonders of Geocaching. I believe that both of these presentations will intrigue and inform. I love it that members are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with the group. These presentations will hopefully inspire others to do the same. (I also must admit that the second reason for looking forward to Tuesday evening is that at last we will no longer be subjected to the awful attack ads that have permeated every facet of media!)
Which reminds me – Whatever your political persuasion, VOTE before coming to Tuesday’s meeting, if you have not already done so. Let no piddling excuse keep you from exercising this right.
October’s meeting gave us an overview of the personal database Bento, presented by Greg Breuer. Greg volunteered to present, and for his effort, he earned this version of the application. Winners of the evening’s door prizes were as follows:
- George Kopp Apple cup
- Mark Snell Caribinier fastener
- Joe Mertzlufft Caribiner pen
- Bonnie Culley inDesign Production Cookbook
- Charlie Bland The Joy of Tech (book)
- Peggy Landwehr Adobe inDesign CS3 one-on-one (book)
- C. Van Vranken Practical Color Management (book)
- Terry Larkin Apple tab & bottle opener
As the year winds down, it is also time to think about appleJAC officers for next year. Please consider participating in our Mac Users Group as an officer/board member. Contacts will be made soon regarding these positions. Please respond with a “Yes”.
See you Tuesday, November 4, 7:00 P. M., at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
