Fall has finally arrived (even though the temperatures have risen to over 90°). We've heard all about the new products and operating systems which have now arrived. Excitment is everywhere, and pocketbooks are opening for more technology!
Our last meeting was about "New macOS/iOS Preview + General Question Session" . . . the preview by Joe Mertzlufft was all about things to do before upgrading to the new systems, and George Kopp talked about when to actually do it. We have now seen the announcement of the new iPhones on September 12, as well as the new Apple Watch and AppleTV. The second half of the meeting was devoted to responses to questions from a few of our members. We had some great doorprize giveaways (including a crystal apple from Laura & Wayne Loyborg, who were visiting), and the winners included:
- Larry Garvin "A Look Through Roger's Gate" (book)
- Keith Major crystal apple
- Marjorie Stevenson Pink Lacto bag
- Ruth Yeager appleJAC microcloth
- Barb Kuebler appleJAC microcloth
- Ann Lane $10 iTunes card
- Winnie Krause $10 iTunes card
- Alice Kopp 1st pick of soda
- Joe Mertzlufft 2nd pick of soda
- Todd McCluskey 3rd pick of soda
- Kathy Mills Cookies to go
The next meeting is about "New Apple Products & New Operating Systems" as facilitated by George (I will be out-of-town) . . . Joe will kickoff the presentations with a discussion of the new iPhones, AppleTV and Apple Watchs, followed by a look at the new Steve Jobs Theater and Apple Park, plus a review of the new iOS 11 for iDevices. After the break, Jason Piper will review the new macOS 13 High Sierra, watchOS 4, and tvOS 10. This promises to be a fascinating and educational night for all. In case you can't make the meeting, be sure to view it live (or aftewards) on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/appleJAC.org/).
And, looking ahead, George Kopp has confirmed that his next iPad class at Kennedy Hall will be 7:00pm, October 12, 2017 (see description in companion article). He will use this opportunity to present all the new features available on the latest iOS 11 for iPads and iPhones.
As always, we hope that you can attend our meetings along with friends and family. Its not only an opportunity to answer your questions and learn more about your valuable investments in technology, but also to share your experiences with others who enjoy the best computers and mobile devices of our time. See you there . . .
