President's Place: June 2017

Our last meeting about “Questions & Answers” was very stimulating and extremely informative. Even though it was a very full session, it was great to see so many people got very involved. Many thanks to George and Joe for their terrific responses to a lot of questions (we plan to do this more often, particularly with pre-meeting questions). Winners of the quick door prize drawing at the end of the Break included:

Our next meeting is our Annual appleJAC Picnic, an opportunity to bring your family to Cole County Park (near the fairgrounds). 

appleJAC will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, buns, table service and condiments . . . you bring your favorite beverage to share along with your choice of a salad, vegetable, or dessert.

Special Note: handicapped parking is limited, so come early. As you will see on the map in the agenda, there are two parking lots: upper (closest to the Pavilion) and lower (a short walk up the hill).

Plastic Bottles for IC School

appleJAC MUGH holds its monthly meeting at Immaculate Conception School in Jefferson City. IC School is collecting plastic bottles.

They can recycle non-alcoholic plastic bottles with a "1" in the recycle icon, and "Pete" under it, like water, soda, iced tea, fruit juice bottles. (NO milk bottles)  They also recycle aluminum cans.

They may be left in the front of school on the bench, or behind the Sisters' convent at 1205 East McCarty (red brick house with the awnings). 

The school is competing -- trying to get enough of these to receive $25,000. We appreciate IC School allowing us to use Kennedy Hall, so when you come to the next appleJAC meeting, be sure to bring your empty plastic bottles for the school.

On the Road Again....

This month, appleJAC hits the road for a meeting in Columbia as we will enjoy the Annual appleJAC MUG Picnic (that's right, in warm June, NOT hot August). Friends and family are all invited to attend (bring a beverage, side dish and lawn chair) this opportunity to relax at the lakeside home of Kathy and Joe Mertzlufft, and enjoy food, fun and friends. RSVP is requested (if you haven't already). Directions to their house (just north and east of Ashland) show that they are less than 20 minutes away from most of where our members live (see map at right).

appleJAC Classes

Each year, appleJAC holds a number of classes for the membership that allow you to make better use of the tools you have. The iPad is a mobile device that you can use to watch movies, create documents, surf the Web, check e-mail, use as an eReader and more! This class will introduce you to the basic features and functions of iPad.

'Getting the Most from your iPad"
This class will cover the iPad and iPad2.
